wow-armory 8.4.1 update

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

The wow-armory WP Plugin v8.4.1 is out!

I fixed a bug in the Image Cache logic which was not properly saving Talent Tree icons.

As always, please direct any questions or comments to the wow-guild Plugin Page. Thanks!

wow-armory 7.0 update

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Whew! The wow-armory plugin is finally working for Wordpress 2.8!

Big thanks go out to Ginchen for testing and fixing parts of the code to make it work – and make it work better!

Here’s a list of the changes that are in this release:

  • Improved logic for grabbing and caching data from the Armory.
  • Sorted Equipment Lists
  • Improved Widget control screen:
    • Option to customize Widget Title – use %NAME% to display Character’s name.
    • Option to show Professions and/or Achievement Points as Progress Bars or Text.
    • 3D Model Preview can be refreshed while changing appearence so you can see what you’re changes are.

I still have a pretty extensive ‘to-do’ list, thanks to the contest, so I’ll be working on getting those items finished up for the next release.

As always, please direct any questions or comments to the wow-guild Plugin Page. Thanks!

Improvements to wow-armory plugin + Linkbacks + Styles

Friday, February 27th, 2009

I’ve made some improvements to the wow-armory plugin:

Talents: You can now display your talent build. This option can be disabled per widget. You will see a link to your Talent in the Armory, displayed as “X / Y / Z”, where X, Y, and Z are the points spent in your First, second and third tree respectively. I’m not sure if the Armory will change to show your Dual-specs after patch 3.1, but I can change this if it does. Also, you’ll see the icon for your spec – if you have more talents in “Beast Mastery”, for example, you’ll see that icon.

Linkbacks: I have added an option to display a link back to my site. I debated for awhile how I can help get the word out on my addons, and this was, I believe, the best solution. This is completely optional, and it should default to “No”, so no one will show any links unless they choose to enable the option. Both the wow-armory and wow-guild plugin have this feature. You can turn on the linkbacks on a per-widget basis, or within shortcodes using linkback="1"

The link looks like this: powered_by

Shortcodes: You can use the shortcode:

Character portrait
of -US or EU
Level

You must have at least the char, realm, and realmtype specified.

Conflicts

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

It has been brought to my attention that my plugins seem to be having conflicts with certain other Plugins – specificially, it seems, with gallery-type plugins. I’m trying to compile a list of plugins that are giving people trouble, so if you notice a conflict, please let me know so I can try to fix it in a later release.
Also, I am planning on a new release for wow-armory soon, which will allow you to specify which language you would like the tooltips to be displayed in (you can choose from any of the languages available on Wowhead). If anyone would like to help me translate other parts of my plugins (the other text, the widget configurations, etc) please let me know.

Broke
The last couple of days have shown an amazing number of visitors to my site – way more people than I’ve seen before. However, you people are using up all my bandwidth, very, very quickly! I’ve spent almost $1 this week alone – which is way up from the typical $0.10/week that I was paying before.
So I’m going to have to bring up the dreaded “D” word again.
I’m hoping to avoid having this site go down again because of lack of funds, and if you would like to help prevent this, please show your support through a donation.
If you like either or both of my plugins, and would like to keep them available and up to date, please take a moment and donate a couple of bucks to me through. I use PayPal, which should work with any payment method you want to use, but if you want to donate in a more direct way, you can email me to discuss it.
Also, you can always link to my site, or tweet about it – Linkbacks and Tweetbacks back to you will be added automagically! So we can help each other out!
You can also give my plugins a good rating on Wordpress, if you want.
Thanks!

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Whew! I did a little cleaning up on the site today – nothing major – I just moved both of my Plugin Pages to a be children of the “Wordpess Plugins” page you see above. Also, I finished adding some content to the wow-guild page, so that it’s more in line with the other page.
