Time

So, basically, I haven’t had much time to work on either of my plugins very much lately.
I’m hoping that when things die down a little bit, I can open them back up. Until then, I might be somewhat unresponsive… sorry.

wow-armory 7.0 update

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Whew! The wow-armory plugin is finally working for Wordpress 2.8!

Big thanks go out to Ginchen for testing and fixing parts of the code to make it work – and make it work better!

Here’s a list of the changes that are in this release:

  • Improved logic for grabbing and caching data from the Armory.
  • Sorted Equipment Lists
  • Improved Widget control screen:
    • Option to customize Widget Title – use %NAME% to display Character’s name.
    • Option to show Professions and/or Achievement Points as Progress Bars or Text.
    • 3D Model Preview can be refreshed while changing appearence so you can see what you’re changes are.

I still have a pretty extensive ‘to-do’ list, thanks to the contest, so I’ll be working on getting those items finished up for the next release.

As always, please direct any questions or comments to the wow-guild Plugin Page. Thanks!

Upcoming wow-armory Release

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

If you’ve been looking at my Sidebar, you might notice a few differences in what I have displayed vs what is in the actual release… this is because I’m working a pretty major update to the wow-armory Plugin – which I hope to have ready shortly after my Contest ends.

Many of the upcoming changes are directly from suggestions or requests submitted by the people who use the plugin – I try very hard to accomadate all of my users, so if there’s anything that you would like to see changed, or if you want to use the plugin but see something that doesn’t look like it would work quite right, let me know! I can do anything*!

I hope you are all looking forward to this release! Also, I’m looking for some vict- er, volunteers to Beta Test this next release (and possibly future releases). If you like to live dangerously, drop me a comment or send me a message!

* The Author cannot actually do anything – just type code with some level of competence to make it seem that way.

See a list of changes after the cut.

wow-armory Page Update

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Well, I lost the original page, including all of the comments D: *facepalm* but I replaced it with an updated, more informative version.
Take a look!
In other news, I did not post a Monster this week because I was working on this new version, but I plan to have a new one next week, plus the next installment of my D&D Special sometime this week!

Updates + the future

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

First, as much as I would like to revamp my whole site, it is more and more evident that it’s not going to be possible to do so right now – I simply do not have the time or energy to pull it off, and there are many other things I would like to do that take less time to implement. That being said, I have updated to the latest version of iNove, and have made a few changes to customize things… unfortunately, some of the JavaScript in the theme has stopped working, but I’m working on a solution.

I’ve received a few different suggestions and requests for changes to the wow-guild plugin. I’m working on a major version update to the plugin, and I will be taking these suggestions into account. If you have anything you would like to see added to either plugin, please let me know. I plan to add an option to filter out characters below a certain rank, and, if possible, grab more info about each individual character.

As always, I keep thinking of ideas of things that I would like to work on… (more…)

wow-armory 2.9 Update

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

I made some changes to the wow-armory plugin, thanks to Joost de Valk!

I switched from using cURL to Snoopy, which should help with grabbing the data from the Armory.

I also changed the Cache time to 15 minutes, which should cut down on the number of requests to the Armory site.

You should be able to grab the latest version now.

wow-guild will be receiving similar treatment in the near future.

wow-armory 2.4 Release

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Hot on the heels of the last rapidly released updates, here comes version 2.4 of the wow-armory! Sorry for everyone for making you update so frequently, but I think you will like this release:

No more AJAX calls! Everything is now tied into one PHP file. I love me some AJAX, but it just wasn’t working out for this plugin that well.

Data grabbed from the Armory is now Cached! This should reduce the amount of out-going traffic from your site to the Armory, and, should the Armory be down or inaccessible (maintenance, whatever), if possible, each widget will try to use it’s most recently cached data to display – so you shouldn’t see the “Armory Unvailable” message hardly at all anymore.
